The Estate
The family owned and operated winery was founded in the late 1980's. It is located in the picturesque Waipara Valley, a 45-minute drive north of the city of Christchurch.

They own four separate vineyards in the Waipara Valley, and four others in the famed Marlborough Region, at the top of the South Island.

The Vinterra 2011 Sauvignon Blanc is produced from grapes grown on our Rowley Crescent, Sandy Creek and Stoney Range vineyards that are situated at either end of Rapaura Road in heart of Marlborough.

The fruit was harvested in the cool of the night and transported to the winery for immediate processing. The juice was settled after a gentle pressing then racked to fermentation. The juice was inoculated with yeast and cool fermented for an average of 17 days. Following two months of lees contact the wine was blended, lightly fined and filtered prior to bottling.

The Vinterra 2011 Sauvignon Blanc displays abundant aromas of gooseberries and tropical fruits on the nose. The palate is fresh and lively showing rich concentration and a long lingering finish. A wine to be enjoyed over the next two to three years.
Pairs well with white meat and fish dishes, and also makes a great aperitif.

The fruit was harvested from the 6th to the 24th of April, 2010. It was harvested in the cool of the night and transported to the winery in one tonne bins where the fruit was gently pressed. Selecting from only the free run and light pressings the juice was settled and cool fermented for an average of 19 days. Following an extended three month period of yeast lees contact the various parcels of Sauvignon Blanc were blended together lightly fined and filtered prior to bottling.
The wine displays fresh, lively gooseberry and passion fruit aromas with a touch of cut grass on the nose. The palate is rich and concentrated with a beautiful balanced finish.
Pairs well with white meat and fish dishes, and also makes a great aperitif.
A wine to be enjoyed over the next two to three years.

The Vinterra Pinot Gris 2011 was produced from fruit grown on Mackenzie’s Road vineyard in Waipara, North Canterbury. The fruit was machine harvested in excellent condition and gently pressed prior to settling. The fermentation was carried out in tanks with 5% in French oak. The wine was then blended, lightly fined and bottled

The Vinterra 2011 Pinot Gris has intense floral, pear and peach aromas
and displays hints of ginger spice with a mouth refreshing length and a juicy finish. A great Pinot Gris for all those summer occasions!

The Vinterra 2010 Pinot Noir was produced from selected parcels of grapes grown on our Waipara and Marlborough vineyards. The fruit was harvested from March into April in excellent condition. Upon arrival at the winery the fruit was destemmed and gently tipped into open top fermenters. After a five day cool soak period yeast was added to the tanks to initiate ferment. The cap was hand plunged three times a day and the juice remained “on skins” for an average of 15 days.Malolactic fermentation and four months oak maturation were completed prior to blending and bottling.

The Vinterra 2010 Pinot Noir displays ripe, earthy and berry fruit aromas as well as some sweet plum notes on the nose, following through to a full and rounded palate, displaying strawberry, cherry and dark berry fruit flavors. An excellent match for most meat dishes.

The wine displays ripe, sweet plum notes with an edge of complexity on the nose. The palate is rich and round supported by fine grain tannins. Strawberry, cherry and dark berry fruit flavors. A great structure.
An excellent match for most meat dishes.
