The Vineyard
The vineyard spreads over 162 hectares (401.8 acres) of land, at 300 meters above sea level. The first grapes were planted in 2001. The climate is mild and arid and the area has considerable thermal amplitude, which are ideal conditions to grow high quality grapes. The soil is arid and alluvial with low contents of organic materials and an excellent permeability and drainage.
The grapes planted are Malbec (49 hectares), Merlot, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay.

Made from 100% Malbec. Manual harvest. Careful selection of the grapes, destemming. Traditional maceration during 21 days with selected yeasts. Malolactic fermentation. The wine has been aged in French and American oak barrels for 12 months, and a minimum of 8 months in bottle prior to release.
Intense ruby red color with purple tints. Aromas of ripe plum and mulberry with a subtle hint of violet. Ripe fruits and prune on the palate with a touch of spice and vanilla. An elegant and balanced wine with a long finish.

"The purple-colored 2005 Malbec Lonko was aged in French and American oak for 12 months. The bouquet offers cedar, spice box, a hint of violets, cola, and black cherry. Medium-bodied with a touch of elegance, the wine has solid depth, savory flavors, enough structure to evolve for 1-2 years, good balance and moderate length. Drink it from 2010 to 2017. "

"The 2006 Malbec Reserva is purple/black in color with a bouquet of black cherry, blackberry, and mineral. On the palate it is a bit austere revealing an intellectual personality and enough structure to evolve for 3-4 years. It may offer a bit more pleasure with further cellaring and should be at its best from 2012 to 2020."

Made from 60% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir. Single vineyard. Manual harvest. Direct pressing in pneumatic press. 48 hours decanting at 10º C. 12 day fermentation process at 14º/16º C with selected yeast. Second fermentation at 14º C during 21days, traditional method. 6 months on yeast.

"The N.V. Extra Brut is composed of 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir sourced from a single vineyard. It was made with the traditional Champagne method. Medium straw-colored, it exhibits an attractive nose of white fruits, yeast notes, and wheat thins. On the palate it is crisp, refreshing, and moderately long in the finish. It is a nicely priced bubbly meant for casual drinking over the next several years."
