Château Haut-Macô
Côtes de Bourg (Bordeaux)

The Estate
The owners Jean and Bernard Mallet represent the third generation to manage this estate.  It takes little time when visiting this estate to see the incredible efforts made by these two brothers to make wines of the highest quality.  The cuverie is state-of-the-art and the barrel room is beautiful, designed by a top French architect. It resembles the extravagant showcases of Napa Valley.

The Vineyard
The 49 hectare (
121 acre) vineyard is located in the right bank of Bordeaux in Tauriac. The appellation is Côtes de Bourg.  The soils here are limestone-clay and alluvial sand.  A careful geological study was made to place vines in the appropriate soil types.  The vines are 20 years of age and older.  They are pruned to a low-yielding five-bud cane.  Harvest occurs at optimum ripeness with leaf-pulling two weeks before picking.
