The Estate
The Azienda Agricola Contesa is located in Abruzzo, 20 Km from Pescara, on the sunny hills of collecorvino. Owner Rocco Pasetti grows Montepulciano grapes at an altitude of 260 meters (~800 feet above sea level).  

The Vineyard
The estate measures 20 hectares (50 acres) and also produces small quantities of white wine. The grape harvest is late at this estate, October 15th on average, and the grapes macerate for 7 days, pressed out and then stored in stainless steel.  After about one month the wine is transferred to large oak barrels (3,000 liter-6,000 liter) for 10-12 months aging. The vines are situated on a clay, calcareous and sandy soil types.

2003 Contesa, Vigna Corvino, Montepulciano d'Abruzzo
The Montepulciano is aged in Slovanian oak barrels.
This wine exhibits a grapey and fruity style, but with depth of flavor. Deep red ruby colored, the wine displays red fruit aromas and fragrances of violet. The taste is persistent and warm in the finish as well as harmonious and ripe.
