2007 Monteillet, Cote Rotie, Fortis 12/750ml
"Bright ruby-red. Fresh, focused red berry and cherry aromas are complicated by smoky minerals, black tea and pipe tobacco. Lively raspberry and cherry skin flavors display impressive depth but no excess fat. Turns spicier with air and finishes with excellent clarity and length. This should be appealing soon after release."

2006 Monteillet, Cote Rotie, Fortis 12/750ml
"Fortis" is the Latin name for valiant, brave, strong and vigorous.
Vigorous, like the Syrah and Viognier grapes planted on rocky, poor, dry granitic soils.
Valiant, like the generations of winegrowers who have worked hard in the vineyards since the Roman time.
Brave, like the vintners who still harvest manually.
The vineyards are located in the south of Ampuis.
The wine is powerful, mineral, round and fruity.

"Dark red. Fresh, sexy scents of red berries, minerals and violet. Seductive and sweet, with deep raspberry and blueberry flavors, supple texture and good mineral snap. I really like this wine's lithe, focused personality and finishing cling."

The first vintage was released in 1989, when Antoine, Stephane's father, became a “Papy” (a grandpa).
The wine is produced from a selection of the best vines, best grapes and best barrels.

Deep ruby color. Intense aromas of pepper and violet. Cassis, tapenade, wood nuances. Full bodied, rich and round on the palate. Fine tannins, violet, pepper and cassis. Elegance and finesse. A baby Cote-Rotie.

"A top-notch effort, although very limited, is the 2005 St.-Joseph Cuvee du Papy, which is aged in demi-muids prior to bottling. The wine offers excellent black cherry, herb-tinged fruit, medium to full body, and moderate tannins and structure. It should drink well for a decade or more."

"Opaque ruby. Deep and smoky, with ripe blackberry and spiced plum aromas underscored by musky tobacco and licorice. Bitter cherry and dark berries on the palate, with chewy tannins and a long, sweet finish. The tannins here are quite soft."
