The Estate
St.Amant Winery is a small family owned winery located in Lodi, California that prides itself in producing handcrafted wines of superb quality. Focusing on Mediterranean grapes, St.Amant crafts distinctive wines from Portuguese, Spanish, and Italian varietals in addition to California’s own Zinfandel.
Tim & Barbara St.Amant Spencer founded St.Amant Winery in 1981 foucusing on alternative varieties.  With a diversified background in agriculture, medicine, and the retail wine business, Tim strives to create fruit-forward food-friendly delicious wines.  He firmly believes that wine, first and foremost, is a beverage of pleasure, best enjoyed with family and friends.

The vineyard
The grapes for all St.Amant wines, whether from Lodi or their own vineyard in the Sierra Foothills of Amador County, are carefully grown and selected for producing fruit of top quality.  St.Amant strongly believes that all great wines are made in the vineyard, and meticulously focuses on low yields with concentrated intense fruit flavors.
Vinification follows simple techniques designed for maximum expression of the terroir of each of the vineyard sites: harvest of  fully mature and ripe fruit; careful sorting of the grapes at the crusher/destemmer removing leaves and imperfect clusters; fermentation in open-top vessels with a high juice to skin ratio; careful macerattion of the must with gentle pumpovers, delestage, and hand punchdowns; pressing and racking to small oak barrels for a natural malolactic fermentation.  They use only high quality coopers and variety of French and American oaks for added complexity.  They bottle with minimal rackings, fining, and filtration.
