After more than four years of practicing biodynamic agriculture, Chakana winery has received official certification by Demeter for their Nuna vineyard in Agrelo, Mendoza.
Chakana shares their vision on biodynamic viticulture:
“We see biodynamic agriculture as a paradigm in strong opposition to conventional agriculture. We have to develop agricultural practices which aim to preserve soil vitality for future generations and organize self- sustained productive environments.
We really want to maximize the quality of what we produce and to achieve that in a sustainable way, both environmentally and economically.
At Chakana we are proud of carrying this flag and of producing wines that represent our values.”
Demeter International is the only organization authorized to evaluate, certify and guarantee that a producer is adhering to the standards & practices required by biodynamic viticulture.
Chakana Winery was founded in 2002 and is owned by Juan Pelizzatti. They have 452 acres under vine with an annual production of 100,000 9-liter cases. Winemaker is Gabriel Bloise.
