With a passion for exceptional beer and customer service, Cris Bezdek, Matt Lutz, and Lou Oliva founded Wort Hog Brewing Company LLC in 2015. The goal was to create a craft brewery that would provide a variety of signature favorites, seasonal rotations, and experiential style beers. The facility accommodate up to 300 patrons in the taproom bar, mezzanine, rooftop bar, outdoor patio and rooftop seating area.
Brew master, Jeremy Hunt, is highly decorated and a brewing industry veteran with over 13 years of professional brewing experience. Jeremy joined Wort Hog after working as the brew master at one of the nation’s fastest growing Craft Breweries: Deep Ellum Brewing Company in Dallas, TX. Jeremy had stretches at other world class breweries such as Ipswich Ale Brewery, Redhook, and as Head Brewer at Dogfish Head.
WHBC’s brewing operations area is approx. 34’ deep and 26’ wide. They have (4) 15BBL and (1) 30BBL fermenters with the planned expansion to include an additional (2) 15BBL and (2) 30BBL fermenters. The brew house is an elevated platform with their hot liquor tank, boil kettle, and mash tun – working capacity of each being 15BBL. Directly atop the mash tun is the grain case, that can hold 1500 liters of grain. Along the back wall, behind the brew house, is the boiler and power subpanel providing power to the brewing area. Stairs to the 2nd mezzanine area are past the fermentation tanks containing the (6) brite tanks, located directly above the taproom bar. From these tanks are 2 draft lines leading (1) below to the taproom bar and (1) above to the rooftop bar. Also located on this platform is the grain mill and grain storage.
The main taproom bar is located directly under the brite tanks, what better way to enjoy a beer while sitting under 15 tons of it!! The bar can easily accommodate 16 guests, has built in USB / power ports, coat hooks, and heated concrete counter-top sitting atop a custom cherry bar with black walnut spline joints. The taproom seating area consists of 10 tables and can seat 40 patrons. Next to the accordion doors, the taproom overlooks the outside patio.
Overlooking the tap room, the Mezzanine gives guest a birds eye view of the entire taproom. With its extended visual reach and intermediate floor between the tap and rooftop, it creates an inviting social space.
The rooftop bar is a year round, fully enclosed rooftop bar. In the summertime the balcony is open and the max capacity is 95 patrons. The rooftop bar has all of the same beers on draft found at the main taproom bar, but with the open air feeling of a true rooftop bar. During the winter, or times of inclement weather, they can drop the tent panels and with the heater (if needed) provide ample seating for 60 patrons.
