Domaine du Galet des Papes
France - Rhone Valley

Domaine du Galet des Papes is a family winery located in the village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

The Mayard family owned property during the reign of Napoléon III. The winery was built by 3rd generation growers & brothers Marius & Fernand Mayard in 1929, surrounding vines inherited from earlier generations. 4th generation Roger Mayard began bottling & commercializing the product. 5th generation & current owner/winemaker Jean-Luc Mayard established the current business, which he runs with his wife & daughters.

The Mayard family has 13 hectares (22 parcels) under vine in Châteauneuf-du-Pape: 12 acres of red varietals (Grenache Noir, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault & Vaccarese) and one acre of white varietals (Grenache Blanc, Clairette & Bourboulenc). They also own a little shy of one hectare in Côtes du Rhône AOC.
