The Levendi legacy began around the family table with laughter and a wish to produce special wines that can bring together the people that matter most to us. Levendi was founded in 2000, with a foundation in celebratory Mediterranean culture, a good meal and a good wine. This spirit is reflected in Levendi vineyards, winery and each bottle.
Founder David Gianulias is a believer in the value of fine craftsmanship and therefore Levendi maintains a smaller production, so that extreme care can be taken each step of the way from start to finish with no detail overlooked. After graduating from UC Santa Barbara and an initial career in the entertainment industry and his family’s real estate company, he returned to his roots in wine and joined with his father to launch Levendi.
David and founder Todd Rustman oversee the day to day operation of the winery. Todd is a life-long family friend of the Gianulias and has extensive background in financial management. Todd is focused on building customer relationships and the wineries long-term financial health.
Founder James Gianulias is a member of the world-renowned Napa Valley vintner’s community for over 30 years. Maintaining family traditions though building the Levendi legacy is of most importance to James. He has a vast appreciation of fine varietals and his Greek winemaking roots.
Alison Dorean is Levendi’s winemaker. She brings over 30 years of winemaking experience and focuses much of her time in vineyard management, walking the rows and keeping an eye on the details of vine growth. Allison completed her degree in winemaking from UC Davis and mentored with wine expert Andre Tchelistcheff.
Levendi produces Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Chardonnay and Viognier. Grapes are hand-harvested and French oak barrels are primarily used. The Levendi Sweetwater Ranch Vineyard is located on the foothills of the Oak Know region and has a cool climate. This produces grapes with intense flavors and individuality, lending to less tannic, fruit forward and easy to drink Cabs. Stagecoach Vineyard is along the southern face of Pritchard Hill and adjoins Eastern Oakville at an elevation of 900 to over 1700 feet. It contains a collection of some of the best selections and clones of Cabernet Sauvignon in California due to the cool morning fog and warm sunny afternoons during the summer months, lending to superb complexity in Levendi wines.
