Bydand Wines
United States - California

Colin Gordon and Tim Beranek worked together at Kosta Browne in 2010 and Outpost in 2013 before Gordon founded Bydand Wines of Sonoma Coast California in 2014. Bydand is the Gordon family motto and it means “stand and fight”. Gordon and Veranek share all winemaking and operational responsibilities and they partner with growers who are committed to meticulously farming each vineyard for top quality Bydand fruit.

Bydand’s Chardonnay is sourced from Roberts Road Vineyard in Petaluma Gap, which is farmed by one of California’s most respected and longest operating grape growing families. Roberts Road was planted in 1998 of Dijon 95 grapes and is situated on well drained gravel soils. Coastal wines provide a slow and even growing season.
Bydand’s Pinot Noir hails from Umino Vineyard, also in Petaluma Gap. Planted in 1996 to 4 Dijon Pinot Noir clones, this 11-acre vineyard sits atop rolling hills and takes full advantage of maritime influence with warm sunshine throughout the day and cool coast winds at night.
Bydand uses a minimalist approach to winemaking with a commitment to simplicity and quality. Small lot fermentations, traditional low impact methods, careful aging and bottling all culminate with a passion to handcraft structured yet elegant wines that fully express varietal, vineyard and vintage character.
