Azienda Agricola Fattoria La Torre
Italy - Toscana

La Torre farm takes its name from a Medieval tower in the rural village of La Villa, located in the hills of San Gimignano - a small Tuscan town known for its beautiful towers, vineyards and olive groves. During the 10th Century, the inhabitants of San Gimignano constructed 72 towers, each one taller and more beautiful than the other. Today only 14 of those towers remain, one of which sits on La Torre farm. The tower, which has been skillfully refurbished, is still today a distinguishing feature of the rural village.

The 350 hectare farm is owned by winemaker Enrico Angiolini. Angiolini fought hard to see that the wine bearing the San Gimignano name comes from grapes grown and bottled within the confines of the community. He was successful in not only blocking large Chianti houses from bottling Vernaccia outside the zone, but he was also responsible for its receiving DOCG status, making it Italy’s second white wine to earn the designation.

La Torre has 42 hectares under vine, producing DOC and DOCG wines, including Vernaccia di San Gimignano, Chianti Colli Senesi, Chianti Colli Senesi Reserve, and San Gimignano Red. They also produce extra-virgin olive oil.The rigorous selection of high quality raw materials, along with support from the most modern manufacturing processes, ensure La Torres's high quality, genuine products.
