Weingut Weller-Lehnert ( Matheus )
Germany - Mosel

Weller-Lehnert is a family winery located in the Middle Mosel's Piesport region. This eighth generation organization is rooted in tradition and committed to producing wines of the highest quality. Weller-Lehnert is a member of the "Bernkasteler Ring", the oldest wine auction company on the Mosel, Saar and Ruwer.

The winery is run by Petra & Jorg Matheus, who took over in 1991. They manage the winery with their sons Frank & Kai, both of whom are earning degrees in Viticulture and Oenology. They produce wines under the brands Weller-Lehnert, Matheus & Maringer-Reif.

The winery covers 18 hectares over select Piesporter locations, one of which is the world-famous "Piesporter Goldtröpchen". Other vineyards are in Piesporter Domherr, Piesporter Falkenberg, Piesporter Grafenberg and Piesporter Treppchen. The Matheus philosophy is "as much as necessary, as little as possible" - gentle grape processing is followed by a gentle winemaking & temperature-controlled fermentation. They intervene as little as possible, allowing the terroir to shine through.
