2011 Grand Veneur Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge Les Origines - 90-92 PTS - WA

wa"The 2011 Chateauneuf du Pape Les Origines is composed of 50% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 20% Mourvedre from 70-year-old vines and aged in new oak. The oak component exercises only a subtle influence on the overall personality of this wine. It exhibits significant creme de cassis, kirsch, blackberry and licorice notes along with a touch of vanillin. Full-bodied, but also accessible, plump and succulent, it can be drunk early in life or cellared for 10-12 years."

2011 Grand Veneur Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge Les Origines - 92 PTS - WA

wa92"Comprised of 45% Grenache, 35% Syrah and 20% Mourvedre and spending 16 months in 50% small barrels, the Grand Veneur 2011 Chateauneuf du Pape Les Origines is a rich, yet medium-bodied example of this cuvee that gives up plenty of toast, wood spice and licorice to go with a core blackberry and raspberry styled fruit. Up-front, with plenty of texture, solid mid-palate depth and good overall freshness, it should drink nicely for over a decade. Drink now-2023. -JD"

2012 Domaine Grand Veneur Chateauneuf du Pape Rouge Cuvee les Origines - 91 pts - IWRep

international wine report logo"The 2012 'Les Origines' is elegant and refined, showing a bit more depth than the traditional Châteauneuf-du-Pape from Grand Veneur. Aromas of fresh blackberries, cassis and a hints of cherries followed by wet stones, floral and touch of licorice all come together and leap from the glass. It possesses a medium to full body, which is nicely structured, remaining focused through the racy finish. Still need time, but nice potential here. (Best 2015-2022)"

2012 Domaine Grand Veneur Chateauneuf du Pape Rouge Cuvee les Origines - 93 pts - WA

wa93"The 2012 Châteauneuf du Pape Les Origines (45% Grenache, 35% Syrah and 20% Mourvedre) is a polished, medium to full-bodied effort that has superb concentration, lots of tannin, and a ripe, textured feel. Showing plenty of black raspberry, toasted spice, creamy licorice and hints of violets, it's a classic example of this cuvée that will benefit from a year or two in the cellar, and have no problem evolving gracefully through 2027. - Jeb Dunnuck"
