2012 Richard Bocking Devon Riesling - 92 PTS BEST BUY - W&S

wine and spirits logo 250"Although this estate dates to Napoleon's time, it had fallen off the map until 2010, when the family decided to give it an overhaul. The 2012s are the first vintage from the new team, led by winemaker Simon Trös. All the wines are vinified without added yeast, then aged in combination of oak fuders and stainless steel. The Devon, pulled mainly from the Trarbacher Traubenhaus, a vineyard directly across from Trarbach, is a broad-shouldered QbA, the savory fruit tones tightly knit into the wine's leesy, earthy richness. It's subtle and substantial, for drinking with the main course."

2014 Richard Bocking Devon Riesling - 88 PTS - VINOUS

vinous logo 250"This tank-raised, not quite legally trocken Riesling is sourced from parcels in the estate’s four top sites that did not qualify for single-vineyard bottlings. Hints of mint accent fresh apple on the nose. The generously juicy, polished palate incorporates a pleasantly tart suggestion of crab apple, and the refreshingly juicy, buoyant finish is appropriately underlain by wet stone. - David Schildknecht"
