Weingut Matheus is located in Piesport on the Mosel and has a 400 year tradition of winemaking (8 generations). Since 1992, the estate has been managed by Petra Hain-Matheus and Jorg Matheus, a graduate of the school in Geisenheim. Total estate production is 35,000 bottles or 2,916 cases annually.
The estate’s acreage totals 13.5 hectares (33.5 acres), with 10 hectares of Piesporter Treppchen, 3 hectares of Piesporter Goldtröpfchen and .5 ha Sauvignon Blanc for the Treppchen. Total production is around 2,900 cases annually: 60% Riesling, 13% Pinot Noir, 5% Chardonnay, 4% each Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris & Pinot Blanc, 3% each Merlot & Dornfelder, and 2% each Gewurztraminer & Cabernet Sauvignon.
