The family owned and operated winery was founded in the late 1980's. It is located in the picturesque Waipara Valley, a 45-minute drive north of the city of Christchurch. They own four separate vineyards in the Waipara Valley, and four others in the famed Marlborough Region, at the top of the South Island.
Dayne and Jill Sherwood started in the 1980's.
All Sherwood Estate’s production and processing is done at the winery in Waipara, from fruit receival, crushing, pressing, fermentation, racking, filtering, bottling and dispatch.
The winery is fully accredited under Sustainable Winegrowers guidelines. The wine making team of Petter Evans and Ian Whiteaker are dedicated to maximising the potential of every grape grown on the vineyards and ensuring that every bottle of wine that rolls off the bottling line meets the exacting standards that are expected.
Sherwood Estate operate their own modern and fully equipped winery where all winemaking tasks are undertaken from crushing and pressing — through to bottling, under the careful guidance of Senior Winemaker, Petter Evans.
