Abeja Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley

2015 Abeja Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley - 91+ PTS - VINOUS

vinous logo"(50% new oak; bottled in August of 2017): Dark, bright medium ruby. Classic varietal aromas of cassis, black cherry, violet and licorice are accented by notes of crushed rock and orange zest. Juicy but still tightly wound; perhaps a bit oakier than it should be and thus the flavors of dark berries, spices and orange zest are showing a touch of leanness today. Finishes with a serious dusting of tannins and very good length. Today this wine is not showing the fleshy character of the 2014 but it appears to possess the balance to reward patience.- Stephen Tanzer"

2013 Abeja Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley - 90+ PTS - VINOUS

vinous logo"(14.7% alcohol; mostly from Bacchus and Dionysos vineyards): Healthy dark red. Nicely ripe, nuanced aromas of black- and redcurrant, blueberry, licorice, fresh herbs and tobacco leaf. Deep, spicy, chewy Cabernet with lovely acidity giving shape and clarity to its flavors of blueberry, blackberry, cassis and bitter chocolate. Very nicely balanced, long wine with firm tannins that avoid dryness. - Stephen Tanzer"

2012 Abeja Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley - 92 PTS - VINOUS

vinous logo 250"60% new French oak; a blend from multiple vineyard sources. Bright ruby-red. Complex aromas of blueberry, blackberry, bitter chocolate, leather, licorice and violet reminded me a bit of top Mendoza Malbec. Suave and seamless in the mouth, with insinuating dark berry, licorice and spice flavors filling the mouth without showing any heaviness. Finishes dry and long, with fully integrated tannins. This fine-grained Cabernet is deceptively approachable now but should age gracefully. - Stephen Tanzer"

2012 Abeja Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley - 91 PTS - WA

wa91"The 2012 Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is brilliant. A blend of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, aged 23 months in 60% new French oak, it boasts classic Cabernet notes of dark currants, crushed rock, bouquet garni and earth. This is followed by a medium to full-bodied wine that has good concentration, nicely integrated acidity and tons of character. Like a lot of 2012s, there’s enough texture and fruit here to keep it enjoyable, but it will also age beautifully. Drink 2017-2032. - Jeb Dunnuck"
