2014 Finca Sobreno Ildefonso Toro - 91 PTS - JD

jeb dunnuck logo 250"The tiny production 2014 Ildefonso Toro is also all Tempranillo that spent 16 months in new French oak followed by a year in bottle before being released. It has more black and blue fruits, with subtle violet and chocolate notes, medium to full body, a stacked mid-palate, and a big finish. It’s a rich, powerful wine that has loads to love. It too should easily keep for 10-15 years."

wa91"The 2014 Finca Sobreño Ildefonso is a Tinta de Toro selection from 60-year-old vineyards fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured in oak barrels for 18 months with rackings every six months. It's serious and combines power and elegance, it shows very good balance and freshness and fine-grained tannins. Great showing. 50,000 bottles were filled in May 2018. - Luis Gutierrez"

2012 Finca Sobreno Ildefonso Toro - 90 PTS - WA

wa90"The 2012 Finca Sobreño Ildefonso was cropped from a very dry year. It's a selection of old vines in the zones of La Pedrera and Ballesteros in Morales de Toro that have different soils to add complexity. It fermented with natural yeasts and aged in French (75%) and American (25%) barriques for 18 months with rackings every six months. It's still quite oaky with notes of roasted coffee, dark chocolate, smoke and sweet spices, with an aromatic touch of sandal wood. The palate is medium to full-bodied, with abundant, slightly dusty tannins, quite marked by the élevage. Good in its style, but too oaky for my taste. 50,000 bottles produced. - Luis Gutierrez"

2011 Finca Sobreño Toro Ildefonso - 93 PTS - VINOUS

vinous logo"(from vines that are reportedly more than 80 years old and raised in new French oak barrels for 18 months) Brilliant ruby. Fresh black and blue fruits, incense and candied violet on the highly perfumed nose. Fleshy, seamless and broad on the palate, offering energetic blueberry and cherry-vanilla flavors and an exotic touch of Asian spices. The blue fruit quality carries strongly through the finish, which hangs on with excellent tenacity and harmonious tannins. - Josh Raynolds"
