jeb dunnuck logo 250"Moving to the Châteauneuf du Papes from barrel, the 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape Le Miocène (70% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre) reveals a dense purple hue as well as a great nose of black raspberries, jammy blackberries, toasted spices, licorice, and Provençal herbs. This fleshy, soft, yet nicely concentrated beauty has terrific ripeness yet stays lively and fresh. It’s a no brainer from this great estate."

2018 Domaine Grand Veneur Chateauneuf du Pape Rouge Le Miocene - 92 PTS - JD

jeb dunnuck logo 250"The 2018 Châteauneuf Du Pape Le Miocène can be thought of as the entry-level Châteauneuf from this estate and is a blend of 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah, and 10% Mourvèdre brought up in a mix of tank and neutral, older barrels. Impressive notes of mulled black cherries, darker currants, chocolaty herbs, and pepper all emerge from the glass and this medium to full-bodied 2018 has a great mid-palate, ample depth and richness, and sweet tannins. It’s beautifully done and just about seamless on the palate, with the forward, already delicious style of the vintage front and center. enjoy bottles anytime over the coming decade."

the wine cellar insider logo"Elegant, soft sweet, red fruits come along with thyme, pepper and herbs. Medium-bodied, fresh, and with a kirsch filled finish, this is quite nice now and will only get better with a few years of age. The wine was made using a blend of 70% old vine Grenache, 20% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre."

2017 Domaine Grand Veneur Chateauneuf du Pape Rouge Le Miocene - 93 PTS - WA

wa"Another stellar vintage for this cuvée, the 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape Le Miocene is a classic blend of 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre from a mix of soil types, aged in older barrels and concrete tanks. It's ripe and plummy, with notes of black cherries and licorice, yet there's also a sense of freshness. Full-bodied and velvety in texture, it's already approachable but has the substance to age through 2030. Tasted twice (once blind), with consistent notes. - Joe Czerwinski"

2017 Domaine Grand Veneur Chateauneuf du Pape Rouge Le Miocene - 91 PTS - JD

jeb dunnuck logo 250"The traditional cuvée at this great estate is the 2017 Châteauneuf Du Pape Le Miocene, and in 2017 it's a classic blend of 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah, and 10% Mourvèdre, brought up mostly in concrete (there's a small amount in older barrels). It has a wonderful fresh, forward, delicious style as well as notes of black raspberries, garrigue, pepper, and hints of flowers. Pure, medium to full-bodied, upfront and ready to go, it's a beauty geared for drinking over the coming 8-10 years."

wine spectator 93 pts"Ripe and compact still, with a core of dark currant and plum puree flavors waiting in reserve while sleek graphite, Turkish coffee and ganache notes hold sway for now. There's fresh acidity and nice detail throughout, though, so let this unwind fully in the cellar. Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. Best from 2021 through 2032. 5,500 cases made, 750 cases imported. –JM"
