2016 Mas des Capitelles Faugeres La Catiede - 91 PTS - JD

jeb dunnuck logo 250"From the schist soils of the Faugères region in the Languedoc, the 2016 Faugères La Catiede has a sappy, resinous note as well as ample blackcurrants, cherry, rosemary, and pine-scented aromas and flavors. I love its complexity, and it’s medium-bodied, beautifully balanced, and has a great finish. A blend of 50% Carignan, 20% each of Mourvèdre and Grenache, and the rest Syrah, it’s well worth seeking out and will keep for 4-6 years."

wa89"Coming from a single vineyard and a blend of 50% Carignan, 20% Mourvedre, 20% Grenache and 10% Syrah, the 2015 Faugeres La Catiede offers a perfumed, floral, almost tropical perfume of iris flowers, plums, black pepper, and Asian spices. Opening up beautifully with time in the glass, this medium-bodied red has a supple, elegant texture, nicely integrated acidity, and present, edgy tannin that lend plenty of cut and length on the finish. It's well worth checking out and will drink nicely through at least 2022."
