"Tropical fruit flavors of dried mango, pineapple and coconut are neatly woven together in this ripe, decadent style. The buttery finish is filled with pastry and toasty notes. Drink now through 2024. —K.M.” - Wine Spectator (May 2020), 92 pts
"The 2017 Chardonnay Silver Eagle Vineyard is a decidedly overt wine laced with copious notes of tropical fruit, passion fruit, popcorn, sweet oak, butter and lemon confit. The rich, sumptuous style will appeal most to readers who like the more flamboyant side of Chardonnay. - Antonio Galloni” - Antonio Galloni's Vinous (January 2020), 93 pts
"The 2016 Chardonnay Silver Eagle Vineyard is dense and exotic in the glass. Orange peel, tangerine, hazelnut, crème brûlée and floral overtones develop over time. Rich and unctuous in feel, with notable oiliness, this is a decidedly exuberant Chardonnay. Readers should expect a big, ample wine. I find the Silver Eagle on the edge of being too heavy, but it certainly has a lot of character.” - Antonio Galloni's Vinous (November 2018), 94 pts
"The Silver Eagle Vineyard is owned and farmed by Ulises Valdez. The 2016 Chardonnay Silver Eagle Vineyard has a gorgeous nose of honeycomb and beeswax, crushed stone, toasted hazelnut and lime peel with a core of Golden Delicious, quince, apricot and peach. Medium to full-bodied and intensely flavorful in the mouth, it's balanced by very juicy acidity and a touch of texture, finishing very long, honeyed and layered. Yum! 110 cases produced. - Erin Brooks” - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (issue #242, April 2019), 95+ pts
"The 2014 Chardonnay Silver Eagle Vineyard is flat out gorgeous. Ample, unctuous and inviting, the 2014 offers exceptional depth, silkiness and nuance. Apricot jam, honey, honeysuckle, orange peel and baked apple all flesh out in the glass. The interplay of rich, textured fruit and bright aromatics is compelling. The 2014 is a bold, opulent wine from Matt Courtney and yet it retains remarkable balance.” - Antonio Galloni's Vinous (March 2017), 95 pts
"A wine of depth and power, the 2013 Chardonnay Silver Eagle Vineyard races across the palate with notable intensity. This is a gorgeous Chardonnay that manages to be both vivid and ample. Underlying saline notes give a sense of proportion and keep the wine from being too blowsy. The Silver Eagle is also characterized by a slight note of reduction that is quite common in white Burgundy. In my view, the reductive elements are well balanced and add character here, but they may not be every reader's cup of tea in Sonoma Chardonnay. In my book, though, the Silver Eagle is fabulous. - Antonio Galloni"
