Ketran Red Blend
Vina Siegel
Chile - Central Valley Region - Colchagua Valley

Ketran comes from the Mapuche language, meaning "plowed earth" - specifically, Earth plowed by fire from volcanic activity. Ketran is a tribute to the volcanic soils that gave birth to the fantastic terroir of Los Lingues, located at the foothills of the "Cordillera de los Andes".

Clean and bright in color. Aromatic and elegant nose of ripe black fruit, prune and dried fig. Sweet and fleshy tannins are balanced by a perfectly integrated acidity, which gives the wine some freshness and emphasizes the presence of fruit and its ability to age. Smooth mouthfeel and exceptionally long finish.

tim atkin logo 250"Ketran is the icon wine at Siegel and it's well worth paying the extra pesos to acquire a bottle of this serious, intense, finely judged assemblage of Syrah with 70% Petit Verdot, Carmenère and Cabernet Franc. The oak is sweet and vanilla spicy, the fruit vivid, vibrant and refreshing with amble concentration, bright acidity and layers of bramble, blackcurrant and red berries. 2023-32"

tim atkin logo 250"Ketran is the top wine from this impressive Colchagua Valley producer, made from a stylish blend of Syrah, Petit Verdot, Carmenère and a little Cabernet Franc. Plush, concentrated and ripe, but certainly not overblown, it's complex and concentrated, showing layers of mint, chocolate and plum and black cherry fruit. 2021-29"

tim atkin logo 250"2014 is the second release of Siegel's top red wine, made from a four-way cuvée of Syrah, Petit Verdot, Carmenère and Cabernet Franc. Plush, spicy and smoothly oaked, with some tannic backbone and a glossy finish. Needs time. 2021-30"

tim atkin logo 250"Your patience will be rewarded if you tuck away this youthful cuvée of Syrah, Petit Verdot, Carmenère and Cabernet Franc for a while. It’s a focused, concentrated, smoky red with scented oak, firm tannins and the acidity and fruit power to develop in bottle. 2022-28"

wine and spirits logo 250"Mostly syrah, petit verdot and carmenère, with 10 percent franc in the blend, this is a dark and inky wine with some barnyard rusticity in the tannins. It has the black-olive tones of syrah and a floral orange-blossom scent underneath, creating intriguing complexity. Autumnal in tone, it’s ready for quail roasted with delicata squash. - J.G."

wine enthusiast"Earthy, spicy aromas of green herbs, eucalyptus and berry fruits reflect the blend, which is Syrah, Petit Verdot, Carmenère and Cab Franc. In the mouth, this is rocky on the surface but deeply layered. Dark, toasty flavors of mint and herbal black fruits finish tannic and drying. - MICHAEL SCHACHNER"

wine enthusiast 91 pts"Ripe berry and cassis aromas come with an oaky note of coconut and a sweet dash of marzipan. A big, flush palate is tannic and lush, but a bit chunky and fat. Coconut, blackberry and mocha flavors finish long and ripe, with tobacco notes. Drink this heavy blend of Syrah, Petit Verdot, Carmenère and Cabernet Franc through 2023."
