wine enthusiast 94 pts"Intensely fruity yet fascinatingly complex, La Reine des Bois consistently reigns as one of the best wines from Tavel. This vintage offers profound, mouthwatering black-cherry and cassis flavors accented by strikes of crushed stone and sizzling black spice. It’s lush and velvety through a long, delicately tannic finish. Lovely already, the wine will drink beautifully through 2023. - Anna Lee C. IIJIMA"

jeb dunnuck logo 250"Another great rosé from this estate, the 2019 Tavel Cuvee La Reine Des Bois sports a classic Tavel deep raspberry hue yet is still a graceful, incredibly elegant rosé that offers lots of raspberry and framboise fruit as well as plenty of white flowers and spice, medium to full body, perfect balance between its acidity and fruit, and clean, dry finish. It’s as classy and elegant as rosé gets! Drink it over the coming year or so."

Pairs superbly with spicy Mexican food. 60% Grenache, 15% Clairette, 10% Syrah, 10% Cinsault, and 5% Bourboulenc from organically cultivated 3 ha vineyard of 40-year-old vines grown in a sandy-limestone mix of gales roulés (cobblestones).- Don WINKLER"

wa"Always one of Tavel's best bottlings, Mordorée's 2018 Tavel La Reine des Bois is a bit less ripe and impressive than previous vintages, but it's still excellent. Hints of crushed stone accent red currant and grapefruit aromas, while the medium to full-bodied palate is smooth, silky and intense, finishing on a peppery note. - Joe Czerwinski"

jeb dunnuck logo 250"The flagship rosé is the 2018 Tavel Cuvée De La Reine Des Bois. Which has a classic Tavel deep ruby color as well as a juicy nose of candied cherries, strawberries, exotic flowers, and spice. A full-bodied, deep, rich, layered rosé, it has a beautiful texture, no hard edges, the classic power and richness of Tavel, and a clean, crisp finish. This is a food rosé all the way and a brilliant effort."

"wa93Bold, intense and flavorful, the 2017 Tavel La Reine des Bois continues to set the standard for the appellation. It's a rich, full-bodied rosé, with lush, mouth-filling flavors of cherries, raspberries and white chocolate, underscored by lime zest and refreshing brine notes. The price is creeping up, but it remains a benchmark in terms of quality. - Joe Czerwinski"

It's a complex wine boasting a core of concentrated raspberry and red-cherry flavors layered with sage, bramble and smoked meat. It's an excellent year-round accompaniment to light meals well through 2020. - ANNA LEE C. IIJIMA"

Sappy red currant and bitter cherry flavors flesh out slowly with air, picking up a hint of fennel on the back half. The finish hangs on with impressive tenacity, leaving behind bitter orange pith and cherry pit notes.- Josh Raynolds"

Similarly colored to the La Dame Rousse, it offers perfumed notes of strawberries, raspberries, fresh flowers and hints of wet stone in a medium-bodied, textured, elegant style that just begs to be drunk. - Jeb Dunnuck"

"wa93More fresh, crisp and elegant than the Tavel la Dame Rousse, the 2015 Tavel Cuvee de la Reine des Bois gives up crystal clear notes of wild strawberries, frambois, flowers, crushed rock and herbes de Provence in a medium-bodied, layered, lengthy style. "wa93The Delorme brother's make one of the greatest rosés in the world and the 2014 Tavel Cuvee de la Reine des Bois is no exception. Made from 60% Grenache, 15% Clairette and the rest Syrah, Cinsault and Bourboulenc, it has almost overflowing notes of framboise, wild strawberries, salty minerality and hints of crushed flowers on the nose. These all flow to a seamless, elegant and layered rosé that has remarkable purity and freshness, yet stays true to Tavel with its beautiful fruit, texture and length. It doesn't come cheap, but it's about as good as rosé gets. Drink it over the coming year or three. - Jeb Dunnuck"

"vinous logo 250Orange-pink. Vibrant, mineral-tinged aromas of red currant, raspberry and pungent flowers take on a suggestion of tangerine as the wine opens up. Juicy and focused on the palate, offering sappy red berry and rose pastille flavors and a hint of chalky minerality. Expands and deepens on the long, juicy finish, leaving behind a suave framboise note. - Josh Raynolds"

tanzer iwc 92 pts"(made from 60% grenache, 15% clairette, 15% syrah and 10% cinsault): Vivid orange-pink. Heady red berry, citrus zest and floral scents are complicated by an intense mineral quality and subtle peach and herb qualities. Fleshy and broad on entry, then tighter in the mid-palate, offering incisive raspberry, bitter cherry and white pepper flavors. Gains power on the finish, which hangs on with excellent mineral-driven tenacity."

"vinous logo 250Dark pink. Highly fragrant, mineral-accented cherry, raspberry and blood orange scents, along with hints of peach pit and garrigue. Shows very good clarity and heft on the palate, offering red fruit preserve, tangerine and floral pastille qualities given spine by juicy acidity. Packs a serious punch but comes off nervy and precise; the mineral note drives a long, sappy finish. - Josh Raynolds"

Wine Advocate 93 Pts"The 2012 Tavel Rose la Reine des Bois is a knockout blend of 60% Grenache, 15% Clairette, 10% Syrah, 10% Cinsault and 5% Bourboulenc. It’s the deepest in color of the rose lineup and dishes out brilliant aromas and flavors of strawberry, rose petal, red currants and mineral to go with a rich, full-flavored profile on the palate. Despite all of the texture here, it never seems heavy and has gorgeous acidity that focuses the finish nicely. While I think most roses should be consumed in the first year after the vintage, the Tavels from this estate have the ability to actually improve with a year in bottle and drink nicely for 2-3 years. Drink now-2016. .- JD"
