In this wine we look for an aromatic concentration and high acidity of the grapes from the very old traditional vineyards of high altitude in Douro Superior, about 550 meters above sea level, showing the full character of the varieties of indigenous Douro old vines, giving very mineral and creamy wines. Mineral aroma, citrus and tropical fruit, fresh and full-bodied on the palate, buttery texture and complexity provided by fermentation and ageing in barrels.

Located near São João da Pesqueira, overlooking the Torto River at an average altitude of 550 meters, the grapes get ripe without any kind of water or heat stress, giving wines of outstanding concentration and elegance.
THE DOURO - The Alto Douro Wine Region was the first appellation in the world, established in 1756, world famous for Port Wine. In our region, the vines grow on steep slopes and terraces that follow the contour of the hills, supported by large walls of schist. All this makes the outstanding landscape of the Douro wine recognized as a World Heritage site.
Hand-picked grapes in small boxes of 15 Kg, cold fermentation technology on reductive environment, with controlled temperature at about 16 ºC, very gentle crushing and pressing in an inert atmosphere to preserve all the aromatic potential of the grapes. Part of the wine is fermented in used French oak and remains there after a short racking on fine lees with regular stirring "battonage" to the making of the final blend with the wine in stainless steel tanks.
AGEING - Fermentation and aging in French and American wood with ‘battonage’ until the filling in April.
Serve with fatty grilled fish, shellfish, sushi and Italian cuisine.

"Medium- to full-bodied, with decadent glazed apple and creamed peach flavors detailed with sweet spice and mineral elements. The solid acidity keeps this focused through the creamy, floral-tinged finish. Drink now through 2021. - G.S."

"Rui Madeira makes this wine from high-altitude vineyards in the Douro Superior, capturing the freshness of local white grapes (códega do larinho, rabigato and viosinho) in complex notes of guava, kiwi and quince. It’s clean, finely built, with apple-tight acidity lending direction to the fragrant fruit of the wine. Decant it for pork roasted with apricots."
