- Russian River Valley
Made with fruit from neighboring, family-owned vineyards, with a combination of grapes from old and younger vines (5-20 years old). The low-yielding organically grown vines from our Family Ranches produced a rich, powerful and yet elegant Zinfandel characterized by a dark garnet to purple hue, verging on opaque. Deep blackberry, black cherry, and allspice aromas fill the glass.
On the palate, the wine is perfectly balanced with harmonious tannins, acidity, and fruit, and seamlessly transitions into an opulent, ripe blackberry mulberry and black cherry potpourri of flavors on the palate, with supple, well-integrated tannins. The juicy flavors and opulent texture layer into a toasty, cinnamon and spice finish. The sensuous, layered flavors persist in a long finish.
“The 2012 Gamba Family Ranches Zinfandel offers a taste of this dazzling vintage with optimum maturity coming from grapes in several areas with the Russian River Valley. Notes of sandalwood and cedar in the nose are woven with aromas of red berry, black tea leaves and ripe tree stone fruit.... On the palate, layers of ripe fruits, cherry, berry and nectarine are countered by subtle toasty oak components. The wine is nicely balanced, and complex, framed by an appropriate frame of acidity.” - Agostino Gamba
