The 2017 vintage:
First of all, the year 2017 gave us some sleepless nights as we were struggling with the danger of late frosts. Due to the relatively early budding, we thought that the vines would be affected by late frosts but fortunately it didn't happen. The summer months brought a heat and dry spell like never before. Especially the young vines suffered from the drought, which made irrigation necessary to ensure the survival of the young vines. Even the old deep-rooted vines suffered from the drought and it was not clear for sure how the drought affected the quality of the grapes. In August, however, came the long-awaited rain that rescued the 2017 vintage. In Fall, we harvested healthy and fully ripe grapes that resulted in a great vintage.
Aged on the lees for 6 months in Stainless Steel tank. No Oak. No ML.
Produced from vines of 5-20 years old on slate soils.
Meat, fish and vegetables.

"Hints of citrus, green-pear peel and leafy fern on the nose lead onto a palate of slight spritz. Here, these flavors coalesce around a lovely Conference pear freshness. The finish is dry, spritzy and mild. - Anne KREBIEHL MW"

"Notes of freshly cut Conference pear have hints of crushed sage, fennel seed and lime peel. The palate trumps with a similar array of flavors that unite citrus freshness and herbal, salty savor, all supported by finely textured yeastiness and that green pear note. Elegant and impeccably balanced in its full-flavored lightness. - ANNE KREBIEHL MW"
