Domaine Roy et Fils began in 2012 with Marc-André Roy and Jared Etzel who continue in their father’s footsteps (partners of Beaux Freres Winery, established in 1991). Over 20 years later, the two families have kept the same focus of producing top quality wine through meticulous and almost obsessive work in the estate vineyards.

Dundee Estate is located in the epicenter of the Willamette Valley, a former hazelnut orchard that we planted in 2013 to thirteen high density acres of pinot noir and two acres of chardonnay, which we farm organically. A south facing hillside single panel, ranging in elevation from 400 to 600 feet with a volcanic soil profile embedded with basalt rock.
Carlton Estate is surrounded by an oak savannah to the south and east, we planted twenty-four acres of pinot noir and two acres of chardonnay that is farmed organically. The vineyard elevation ranges from 360 feet to 550 feet and has south and east exposures, with mineral driven marine sedimentary soils speckled with a unique occurrence of crystalline quartz.
The 2013 Maison Roy et fils Incline expresses bright red fruits including strawberry and pomegranate. it also shows aromas of dried Italian herbs and baking spices. The palate echoes the aromatics with red fruits uplifted by taught acidity giving the wine good freshness and tension that will allow it to age nicely for 5-8+ years. Gentle decanting is beneficial if drinking between 2014 through 2017 as this encourages further aromatic intensity in the wines early years.
POS Documents (shelf talkers, case cards, spec sheets, etc.)
The 2013 vintage was a polarizing vintage with its share of adversity. The vintage began very warm through the spring and transitioned in July to cool and by the end of July and through October it was torrentially rainy and humid. This slowed ripening and brought botrytis. We sorted in the vineyard and in the winery to discard up to 45% of the yield to reach our quality goals. What remained produced a wine we are very pleased with.

"Brilliant red. Assertive aromas of ripe red fruits, potpourri and five-spice powder take on an exotic incense note as the wine opens up. Juicy, penetrating and appealingly sweet, offering juicy black raspberry and cherry flavors that are enlivened by suggestions of blood orange and white pepper. A hint of vanilla appears on the long, focused and vibrant finish, which is shaped and given gentle grip by harmonious tannins. - Josh Raynolds" - Vinous (December 2016), 92 pts
