|Vintage:||2017||Grape Varietals:||100% Trebbiano di Lugana||ABV:||12.5%|
|Aging:||No Oak. Aged 5 months on the fine lees.|
The grapes are hand harvested exclusively from our own vineyards in San Benedetto di Lugana - vineyards that are most suitable due to the high content of white clay. The harvest and selection of the grapes are done strictly by hand, in small 17-kg-cases.
Double bow Guyot, yield around 9,000 kg. of grapes per hectare, equivalent to 5,700 liters of wine or 63%.
Delicate, soft pressing of the whole bunch for most of the production, the rest with gentle destemming by oscillation. Thereafter, a strict protocol of vinification: racking for natural sedimentation, slow, temperature-controlled fermentation (14°/18°); fining for 5 months on fine lees.
Pairs best with fish-based plates, soup, pasta or rice, white meats.

"Light straw color. The Lugana Blanco reveals pleasant scents of grapefruit. It's a bright, fresh clean wine with good flavor concentration of quince, citrus, and herbs. It finishes with excellent length. Made from the Turbiano grape, a clone of Trebbiano di Lugana."

"Trebbiano is a white grape usually made into cheap, innocuous wines. The Ottella is neither. Rather, it is an example of what the grape can be when the viticulture is careful. With apricot and quince flavors, plus a little tangerine and lemon thyme, the wine is ideal for a weekend brunch on the patio or a first course of seafood salad. This is new to the D.C.-area market, but I hope it becomes a standard. 12.5 percent."
