Rosé: still a thing.
The Patton Valley Vineyard is a wonderful slice of grape growing heaven, right on top of a little outcropping in the foothills of the Oregon Coast Range at an elevation of 300-500 ft. Our vineyard has ample sun, cool breezes, and slopes to every aspect with a single soil type called Laurelwood. It’s your basic paradise.
This wine is a delight. Fresh, vibrant, and crisp, it flashes all sorts of Spring and Summer at you on the nose with strawberry, watermelon, and citrus, and has the zing of lively acidity throughout the palate that causes lips to smack, and glasses to lift again. Good with everything, and gone before you know it.
2017 was remarkably textbook, with a few flashes of heat early, and then a long, easy, and deliberate harvest with virtually no rain at all. It’s like we ordered it to go exactly our way. It did. We are thankful, and the results will please.
