Origin: United States
Varietal Information: 38% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, 17% Petit Verdot, 14% Cabernet Franc, 7% Malbec. Using all 5 Primary Bordeaux grapes, but grown here in Virginia, we call our meritage, Ameritage.
Vintage Notes: The hot, dry 2013 summer lasted into fall, giving extra hang time in the vineyard. Each of the Hearty grapes benefitted from the extended seasons, as each characteristic was highlighted. The end result is a award winning example of a Virginia blend.
Tasting Notes: Smooth, rich and superbly balanced. Cherry and dark fruit on the nose. A spicy, peppery fruit flavor lasts to a slightly tannic finish, making our Ameritage good for drinking on its own.
This particular wine and vintage (2013) received a Silver Medal at the 2016 STATE FAIR OF VIRGINIA WINE COMPETITION.
