"Although this estate dates to Napoleon's time, it had fallen off the map until 2010, when the family decided to give it an overhaul. The 2012s are the first vintage from the new team, led by winemaker Simon Trös. All the wines are vinified without added yeast, then aged in combination of oak fuders and stainless steel. The Devon, pulled mainly from the Trarbacher Traubenhaus, a vineyard directly across from Trarbach, is a broad-shouldered QbA, the savory fruit tones tightly knit into the wine's leesy, earthy richness. It's subtle and substantial, for drinking with the main course."
