Flatridge Ranch is a secluded parcel in the Coastal mountain range, west of the Rockpile AVA. Here the Trione family planted a 10 acre vineyard in 2008. The vines are a unique Zinfandel selection called Saint Peter’s Church, whose provenance is a 100-year-old block in Cloverdale, a small town north of our Geyserville winery.
Sweet briar pipe tobacco and cigar box are the first impressions of this wine. Rich, velvety textured, soft, supple yet concentrated flavors of plums, fruit leather and berry jam. The 2014 Flatridge Zinfandel is big, bold, rich and concentrated. This wine will last for the next 3-5 years with proper cellaring. Cheer! - Scot Covington – Winemaker
It is extremely rare to have back to back perfect vintages but 2014 is proving to be just that: perfection. What started out as a normal spring bud-break was followed by a moderate and ideal growing season. Optimal conditions for ripening resulted in an almost perfect development of flavor, sugar, acid, and structure. The harvest season began slightly early but with perfect fall conditions it was compact and
uniform. The season allowed for an almost clockwork style of harvest.
