Adegas Valmiñor is a modern winery in Rías Baixas with strong Celtic roots. They aspire to be in the vanguard of the wine sector in Spain. Nature, experience, technology and a great service to customers... all of these have allowed Valminor to put onto the market a wide range of wines, not only recognized for their quality and variety, but also for their innovative character.
Carlos Gómez established Valmiñor in 1997 and headed up the project to build and open the new facilities in 2001. A trained executive with extensive experience in the wine business, Carlos founded Valmiñor and has since continued to expand the group's capacity to include Bodegas Ebano in Ribera del Duero in 2004, and more recently acquired a second Rías Baixas producer, Viñas o Torroxal. Today the group also includes a distribution company, as well as an agricultural services organization.
Though a modern winery with cutting-edge technology, they are dedicated to honoring their Celtic roots. The Celtic roots of Valminor are witnessed in their logo, created out of four Celtic symbols - rain, sun, air, and land - found in nearby Mount Teton.
Adegas Valmiñor is located in the Valley O Rosal within the appellation Rías Baixas. Adegas Valmiñor has 35 hectares (86 acres) of their own vineyards in O Rosal.
A mild climate without dramatic changes in the weather, a soil rich in minerals and excellent conditions for maturing make this valley the perfect place for the growing of quality varieties like the Albariño, Loureiro and Treixadura.
Ebano owns 45 hectares (111 acres) of vineyards in the Ribera del Duero region with an average age that ranges from 25 to 50 years. 30 hectares (74 acres) are "trained on the wires" and 15 hectares (37 acres) are in "low bush."
The climate of Ribera del Duero is unique for growing quality red grapes. The region has the highest average elevation in Europe for growing red wine grapes, hot summers, cold winters, a short growing season, minimal rainfall, and a diversity of soils. The grape variety used is tempranillo, a black grape with a thick skin. It grows best at relatively high altitudes, but it also can tolerate a much warmer climate.
Adegas Valmiñor (D.O. Rías Baixas) has obtained the BRC Food Safety Standard (British Retail Consortium, Certificate of Quality), the leading global brand recognized by customers worldwide. The BRC is a global food security protocol that aims to ensure that manufacturers meet rigorous requirements to guarantee the quality of its products. This is how Adegas Valmiñor reinforces its commitment to continue the evolution and steady improvements in their products in order to always guarantee the consumer with the highest quality wines.

"Tropical-fruit aromas include notes of pineapple and mango. This has an easy-to-like palate with pulpy weight and just enough acidity. Peachy flavors include a note of honeydew melon, while this shows a saline character on the finish."

"Light yellow. Fragrant, mineral-accented bouquet evokes citrus fruits, honeysuckle, green tea and ginger, plus a hint of pungent herbs. Racy and focused on the palate, with tangy citrus pith and mineral flavors joined by a deeper note of pear in the mid-palate. This nervy, focused albarino finishes with very good energy and lingering minerality."
- Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (September/October 2014), 90 pts
"A robust albariño, this wine's complex flavors layer lemon zest and lime leaf with prickly pear and a meatier note, like the gaminess and salty tang of heritage pork. The citrus flavors dominate in the finish with their mouthwatering depths. Approachable now, this will benefit from several years of age."

"Valminor Albariño 2010, Rías Baixas, Spain. 12.5% alc. This boldly spicy and savory albarino offers real grip and limestone fortitude with enticing citrus and grapefruit scents and flavors, whiffs of jasmine and camellia, hints of apple skin and roasted pear; eminently refreshing, spring rain and sea-salt with a bracing punch of earth and bitterness on the finish. One of the best albariños. Excellent. About $20."

"Adegas Valminor's 2010 Albarino displays an inviting bouquet of mineral, lemon zest, melon, and spring flowers. This leads to a medium-bodied, spicy, savory, nicely proportioned Albarino with plenty of volume and length. Drink it over the next 3-4 years."
