Mike is Brooklyn-bred, having lived most of his life in the NY Metro area. He caught the restaurant bug while working in the industry during school and, after some seasoning, found himself steering the rudder of the Grand Central Oyster Bar as GM & President… while also gaining his sommelier certification. Garvey started GCOB’s franchising arm leading to locations in the US and Asia. The high-profile position also afforded him the opportunity to co-author Running a Restaurant For Dummies.
Vision Wine Brands came calling in 2012 where Garvey was exposed to the supply-side of the beverage business, including a glimpse of the Kysela world where he finds himself today!
Today, Michael resides in Manhattan with his wife, Vicki and (part-timer) Torrance who is finishing her sophomore year at East Carolina University. Besides enjoying many things liquid, he’s an avid sportsman, cyclist and spectator.
