Boxwood Rose
Boxwood Winery
United States - Virginia

An elegant pink hue complements a subtle aromatic bouquet of freesia and white peach. A balance of fruit and acidity highlights the layered notes of strawberry, raspberry and nuanced pineapple. Its medium-light body leaves you with a lengthy finish which lingers with a final touch of stone fruit and floral charm.

2019 Boxwood Rose - 89 PTS - WA

2019 Boxwood Rose - 89 PTS - WA

wa89"The 2019 Rosé is a mostly a blend of 28% Sauvignon Blanc and 25% each of Cabernet Franc and Merlot, with various others filling out the blend. It comes in with three grams of residual sugar, 7.2 of total acidity and 12.8% alcohol. The unusual addition of Sauvignon Blanc, says the winery, was to add acidity and liveliness. Well, that is a nice success story. This is spicy, distinctive and wonderfully fresh. It has reasonable body, but the bright feel and intense (but dry) flavors make this a pleasure. It's a serious style with some tension and perkiness. It's probably not the best red wine substitute in style, but it will hold up to lighter foods just fine. It will wake you up on a warm day too. - Mark Squires"

2017 Boxwood Rose - 89 PTS - IWR

iwinereview"The 2017 rose is a blend of 50% direct press Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec and 50% saignée of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot all from estate vineyards. It exhibits nice purity of red fruit/plum with a hint of cinnamon aromas on the nose. Soft on the attack and lush and suave on the palate, it has medium acidity and good weight on the finish."
