Pearmund Cellars is a 7,500 square foot geothermal winery and 25-acre vineyard located in the serene foothills of eastern Fauquier County, Virginia. Established in 1976, the estate has had active agriculture since the mid-1700s. Chris Pearmund, one of Virginia’s most recognized and respected winegrowers and maker, purchased Pearmund in 1993. Fifteen acres of 11,000 Chardonnay vines (the oldest Chardonnay vines in the State of Virginia), cultivars and clones of Chardonnay are planted at the Pearmund Estate.
The vineyard is managed with as little intrusion as possible; the estate operates in a holistic, earth-conscious manner. Pearmund also sources grapes from premier Virginia vineyards that specialize in only one grape variety. Pearmund Cellars produces about 7,000 cases of award-winning Chardonnay, Viognier, Riesling, Late Harvest Vidal, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Ameritage annually.
