Only 1,900 bottles of this singular CDP were produced in 2023. Only three producers in the entire appellation produce a 100% Mourvèdre CDP. This is the first time Chateau Cabrieres has produced a mono-varietal CDP. This cuvée serves as a tribute to their former renowned oenologist partner, Philippe Cambie, who inspired the idea before he passed away.
It has an incredibly Provençal bouquet of sweet kirsch, roasted Provençal herbs, pepper, and Southern Rhône street market-like spicy, exotic nuances. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, with a round, layered mouthfeel, velvety tannins, and a great finish. A smoking good wine, it has tons of charm, character, and complexity.
Beef stew, Provençal saddle of lamb, Hare stew, roasted red meats, mature cheeses.
"All Mourvèdre, the 2023 Châteauneuf Du Pape 100% Mourvèdre was raised 12 months in a mix of concrete and older oak barrels and was just bottled but is showing beautifully. A smoking good 2023, it has tons of charm, character, and complexity. Bravo.
