Dry Fly Port Finished Wheat Whiskey Reviews

Dry Fly Port Finished Wheat Whiskey - 94 PTS - WE

wine enthusiast 94 pts"Pleasing vanilla and espresso show up on nose and plush palate. A splash of water is all that's needed to bring out a faint hint of red fruit on the finish, alongside clove and allspice. Complex and dessert-worthy. - KARA NEWMAN "

Dry Fly Port Finished Wheat Whiskey - 94 PTS - TP

tasting panel logo"Port barrels add color and flavor to this striking spirit: Lighthearted but deep amber in hue, it’s a mineral-driven whiskey with delicacy and complexity. The perfume of nougat, raisin, walnut, and chocolate goes deep as flavors of candied almond meld with coffee bean, grain, and cedar before the dry, seamless finish"

Dry Fly Port Finished Wheat Whiskey - American Whiskey

american whiskeyPeggy Noe Stevens – 8.5
Nose: Expressive wood sugars and almost custard-like presence. Dried apricot and honey. Gold raisin and toasted pecans.
Palate: Warm currants and citrus with hints of mint and herbal facade. Attractive brown sugar and bready flavors that also nods to the grain. Slight cherry note.
Finish: Crisp heat on the finish that displays a controlled spice note.
Comment: The layered complexity is attractive. The grains climb softly around that lovely touch of heat.

Susan Reigler – 8.3
Nose: Light cherries with vanilla cookies and some hints of caramel all appear first, followed by toasted wheat crackers.
Palate: Stoned wheat crackers with more vanilla. Fruit has changed to ripe apples and there's a herbal note, plus cinnamon.
Finish: The cinnamon really comes to the fore here, while the grain and fruit tend to fade.
Comment: Well-balanced whiskey that's very fine on its own and complex enough to stand up in a cocktail.
