Caldera Hopportunity Knocks IPA
United States - Oregon - Ashland

Commercial description: Kettle Series. When hopportunity knocks, answer it. This ale is Caldera's rendition of answering the Pacific Northwest call for a @*! pile of Centennial hops with a big beer to back it up. Don't get left out in the cold, open up and fill the void within you ...

Tasting Notes:

A. Pours a hazy amber. Big 3 finger creamy light tan head with very good retention.
S: Aroma is mild straw with a little floral thing going on, and some nice bready notes underneath.
T: Flavor is big big big hop forward, aggressively bitter with pine, orange peel and a sweeter orange blossom note, and some of that grassy straw from the aroma. Healthy malt backbone that explains the amazing head, and balances out that hop extravaganza.
M: Mouthfeel is big and bold... seems more significant than 6.8%. A nice heaviness that makes this one a good cold weather IPA.
O: If you like the west coast IPA's, this is one to get friendly with... clean aggressive bitterness and a ton of hop flavor. Lots of malt to balance it out. I was a fan of these guys when I lived in Southern Oregon, glad to see their success is to the point they are distributed in Arizona now.
