All three of these blocks lie quite close together on the steep north-facing side of WeatherEye. Here, full ripeness is reached while preserving great varietal character and lively acidity.
Elegant and evocative aromas of red and black currants, dark plum, violet, Ugandan chocolate, wild tobacco, crushed vanilla bean, and dried thyme. Suave and poised on the palate, with beautifully complex black and blue fruit compote, crushed wild roses, clean tilled dark earth, and windblown herbs. This wine, though drinking great now, is still gathering power, and will age gracefully for many years to come.
"The 2022 Liminal The Mountain Tower Red Wine is a dynamic and expressive blend of 40% Cabernet Franc, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 27% Merlot, fermented in concrete and steel before aging for 18 months in neutral large-format French oak and a concrete egg. Its deep violet hue is edged with an electric magenta rim, hinting at the vibrancy within. The nose bursts with aromas of blackcurrant, ripe red cherry, and wild lavender, interwoven with nuances of worn saddle leather, crushed rose petals, and a subtle trace of exotic spice. The palate is both powerful and finessed, revealing layers of juicy boysenberry, dark plum, and a touch of black tea, all wrapped in finely integrated tannins that lend structure without overpowering the wine’s graceful flow. A core of graphite and crushed rock minerality underscores its depth, while a whisper of cocoa-dusted espresso lingers beneath the fruit. The mid-palate is dense and impeccably balanced, delivering remarkable intensity while maintaining a lifted freshness that carries through to the finish.
