2012 Collemattoni Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Vigna Fontelontano - 95 PTS - VINOUS

vinous logo"Deep ruby. Very deep aromas of red plum, red berries, sweet spices and crushed stone are complicated by mint and cinnamon on the captivating nose. Juicy and extremely intense, with a crystallized quality to its sharply delineated fruit and spice flavors, this huge, structured wine is bursting at the seams with ripe fruit and flesh. A luscious mouthful of Brunello that finishes long with polished tannins and noteworthy energy, not to mention subtle building perfume.- Ian D'Agata"

2012 Collemattoni Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Vigna Fontelontano - 96 PTS - WS

wine spectator 96 pts"Saturated flavors of cherry and plum mesh nicely with the dense tannins in this intense, energetic red. Balanced, if a bit angular now, with the component parts needing time to integrate. Finishes with a firm grip and lingering tobacco and mineral accents. Best from 2022 through 2038. From Italy.—B.S."

2013 Collemattoni Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Vigna Fontelontano - 94 PTS - VINOUS

vinous logo"Moderately saturated red. Deep rich aromas of redcurrant, smoky dark chocolate-covered plum, vanilla, mocha and grilled meat. Silky-sweet on entry, then fine-grained and creamy in the middle. Boasts outstanding density and an exhilarating acid/tannin/fruit balance. Closes long and suave with a strong note of vanilla and other oaky spices. You can tell this was aged in smaller oak barrels (500 liter tonneaux). - Ian D'Agata"

2015 Collemattoni Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Vigna Fontelontano - 93 PTS - VINOUS

vinous logo"The 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Vigna Fontelontano brings together notes of plum sauce and black cherries with exotic brown spice and cooling mint leaf. It’s deeply textural and medium in body but with a brilliant dose of acidity which brings the expression to life, giving way to sweet strawberry and licorice. Although tannic, there’s enough primary intensity and verve to keep the experience fully enjoyable right through its long finish. A few years of cellaring may bring out a bit more depth, at which point this should enjoy a long and open drinking window. Very nice. - Eric Guido"
