2017 Domaine Johann Michel Saint Joseph - 91 PTS - VINOUS

vinous logo"Brilliant violet. Blackberry, boysenberry, violet, olive and a hint of cracked pepper on the fragrant nose. Clean and racy in style, offering gently sweet dark berry and spicecake flavors and a subtle mineral nuance that builds as the wine opens up. Silky tannins lend shape to a spicy, nicely persistent finish, which leaves behind repeating floral and spice notes. From the tiny section of the appellation that lies just south of Saint-Péray. - Josh Raynolds"

2017 Domaine Johann Michel Saint Joseph - 91 PTS - WE

wine enthusiast 91 pts"Whiffs of fresh, green herb and pepper lend vitality to pristine black plum and cherry flavors in this wine. It's luscious and silken but anchored by crisp acidity and a firm mineral undertow. The finish is moderately long, extended by fine-grained, persistent tannins. - Anna LEE C. IIJIMA"

2017 Domaine Johann Michel Saint Joseph - 92+ PTS - JD

jeb dunnuck logo 250"Michel farms four hectares in Cornas (the Les Cotes, Bayonnet, Chaillot, and Saveaux lieux-dits), a tiny 0.67 hectares in Saint Joseph, and one hectare in Saint-Péray. These are brilliant wines across the board. Starting with the 2017 Saint Joseph, this solid, concentrated, tannic wine isn't meant for instant gratification, yet has impressive darker, almost blue fruits, loads of minerality, ample mid-palate depth, and a big finish. A mini-Hermitage with its structure and minerality, it’s going to benefit from 2-4 years of bottle age and drink nicely for over a decade. It's an impressive Saint Joseph.- "
