2012 Long Shadows Saggi - 93 PTS - VINOUS

vinous logo 250"Good bright red-ruby. Lovely aromatic perfume of cherry, strawbery and licorice. Plush and glyceral, offering superb depth to the flavors of red and darker berries, spices and mint; a real wave of fruit on the palate. Impressively broad, pliant blend with building dusty-but-sweet tannins and outstanding length. - Stephen Tanzer"

2013 Long Shadows Saggi - 93 PTS - VINOUS

vinous logo 250"Alluring perfume to the aromas of cherry, plum, spices and red licorice, lifted by a note of rose petal. Intensely flavored and energetic, offering juicy, sharply delineated flavors of dark fruits, flowers and graphite. In a slightly compressed, rather vertical style but even today the wine shows no hard edges. Opened beautifully in the glass, showing a sneaky, slowly building finish. - Stephen Tanzer"

2014 Long Shadows Saggi - 93 PTS - IWRep

international wine report logo"Following up the highly impressive 2013 'Saggi' bottling, this 2014 edition is packed with dense aromatics and flavors. Head winemakers Ambrogio and Giovanni Folonari from the famed Folonari house in Tuscany, head this project. The red wine highlights Candy Mountain and Bouchey vineyard Sangiovese as well as Stone Tree Vineyard Cabernet, as this is a blend of 52% Sangiovese, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon and 16% Syrah. This wine begins with aromatics of red cherry, anise, spicebox and hints of red raspberry and dried thyme. There are bright flavors of smoked pork shoulder, red cherry, coffee grounds and hints of white pepper with sagebrush. The finish lingers in this one of a kind Washington red blend. While this is absolutely stunning right out of the bottle, this will also cellar well into the next decade. (Best 2016-2027) - O.B."

2014 Long Shadows Saggi - 94 PTS - WA

wa94"The 2014 Saggi is gorgeous. Black cherry, blackcurrants, licorice, graphite and spice characteristics all give way to a rich, full-bodied, yet incredibly elegant and seamless style on the palate. Given its purity and overall balance, it's going to cruise in the cellar, but it's already hard to resist as well. The blend is 52% Sangiovese, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon and 16% Syrah. - Jeb Dunnuck"

vinous logo 250"Aromas of cherry, raspberry, earth, menthol and medicinal herbs, plus a whiff of leather. Plush, round and classically dry on the palate, conveying a slight warmth to the flavors of red currant, wild strawberry, tobacco leaf and wild herbs. - Stephen Tanzer"

2016 Long Shadows Saggi - 91 PTS - WE

wine enthusiast"Sangiovese (60%) is at the heart of this blend, which is filled out by Cabernet Sauvignon (29%) and Syrah. The aromas intrigue, with notes of plum, char, vanilla and anise. The full-bodied palate mixes fruit and barrel, showing a sense of poise. SEAN P. SULLIVAN"

2016 Long Shadows Saggi - 92 PTS - JD

jeb dunnuck logo 250"The 2016 Red Wine SAGGI is mostly Sangiovese but has 29% Cabernet Sauvignon and 11% Syrah. Medium ruby-colored, with notes of ripe cherries, spice box, and dried flowers, it hits the palate with medium-bodied richness, present yet ripe, polished tannins, terrific balance, and a clean, graceful finish. It’s certainly one of the best expressions of Sangiovese coming from Washington."
