2015 Sei Solo Ribera del Duero - 93 PTS - DECANTER

decanter logo 250"A family project by Javier Zaccagnini, of Aalto and Ossian fame, and his son Michael. Year after year, this wine gains more delicacy without becoming lighter, with a remarkable distinctiveness, in a style that looks more for fine texture than fruitiness. Made to pass the test of time. An extremely interesting style, worth following. One of the most Burgundian Riberas. Drink 2020-2035"

tim atkin logo 250"Sei Solo source this top red from two parcels - Barroso and Acos - in the celebrated village of La Horra, aged between 60 and 90 years' old. It's a rich, almost ferrous style with plenty of grip and concentration, understated oak sweetness from 600-litre barrels and the focus and freshness of the 2018 vintage, provided the yields were kept low, as they were here. 2023-30"

"Deep garnet to the eye, this wine has aromas of black cherry and cassis, with a touch of smoke. Robust tannins support slightly brambly fruit of the wood flavors alongside notes of anise, eucalyptus, dark chocolate and dried thyme. Vivid acidity makes its presence known from first sip through the vibrant finish.- Mike DeSimone"

2018 Sei Solo Ribera del Duero - 96 PTS - SJ

somm journal purple logo"Vines as old as 60-90 years are used for this vibrant 100% Tempranillo. Fermented in stainless steel and aged for 20 months in neutral, 600-liter big barrels, the wine is named for Bach’s six solos for violin. Dynamic and muscular, with graphite-laden, firm tannins, a chorus of black plum, blackberries, and a true “soil” component play on our heart strings. Rich, igniting the mineral soils of the region, its music is illuminating, but its sense of place is down to earth."

2020 Sei Solo Ribera del Duero - 95 PTS - TA

tim atkin logo 250"Picking dates were crucial in 2020, according to Michael Zaccagnini, because of rain during harvest, but he picked before the downpours. Sourced from venerable parcels in La Horra, this is a fine, detailed, elegant Tinto Fino with understated 15% new oak, refreshing acidity and flavors of cassis, redcurrant and summer berries. Drinkable now, but with good ageing potential. 2025-32"
