2018 Fenocchio Barolo Castellero - 92 PTS - JS

james suckling hq logo plainThis has a graceful nose of sweet-spice and fresh red berries. Medium-bodied with a tight bead of fruit, wound around by the same spicy elements that also coat the fine-grained tannins. No great complexity here, but it’s an endearing Barolo, whose charm will increase as it evens out in bottle. Try from 2024."

2018 Fenocchio Barolo Castellero - 93 PTS - VINOUS

vinous logo"The 2018 Barolo Castellero is another attractive wine in this range. It offers pretty, forward fruit wrapped into a classic, mid-weight frame. Dark cherry, plum, spice, leather, tobacco and incense bring out darker shades of Nebbiolo. A few hours if aeration works wonders here. There’s quite a bit of grip, so a few years in the cellar are advisable."
