2019 Guy Bernard Cote Rotie Cote Rozier - 94 PTS - VINOUS

vinous logo"Dark violet. Displays intense blueberry and cherry liqueur flavors, along with hints of exotic spices, candied flowers and olive. Round and fleshy but energetic as well, offering sappy black and blue fruit and spicecake flavors that are braced by a core of smoky minerality. The floral note repeats on the gently tannic finish, which lingers with tight focus and resonating spiciness. 25% new oak. - Josh RAYNOLDS"

2022 Guy Bernard Cote Rotie Cote Rozier - 93 PTS - TWKL

thewineknowlog2 logo"100% Syrah aged for 22 months in 400L barrels of which 25% are new oak. Near Classic N. Rhone Syrah from a steep terraced vineyard. Lovely deep ruby, violet. Fine sweet black berry / gamy pepper aromas. Very fine, almost smoky gamy aromas. Rich, silky tannins, lovely berry flavors slightly boysenberry / peppery finish with long definition of fruit and good acidity. If Burgundy was made with Syrah, not Pinot Noir, this would be a textbook example! Excellent if $$, but now typical of this AOC, given the small quantities produced and the amount of labor that goes into tending steep vineyards. Now-2032. - Joe BUTLER MW"
