2012 Finca Sobreno Ildefonso Toro - 90 PTS - WA

wa90"The 2012 Finca Sobreño Ildefonso was cropped from a very dry year. It's a selection of old vines in the zones of La Pedrera and Ballesteros in Morales de Toro that have different soils to add complexity. It fermented with natural yeasts and aged in French (75%) and American (25%) barriques for 18 months with rackings every six months. It's still quite oaky with notes of roasted coffee, dark chocolate, smoke and sweet spices, with an aromatic touch of sandal wood. The palate is medium to full-bodied, with abundant, slightly dusty tannins, quite marked by the élevage. Good in its style, but too oaky for my taste. 50,000 bottles produced. - Luis Gutierrez"
