2016 Domaine Grand Veneur Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc Le Miocene - 93 PTS - VINOUS

vinous logo"Transparent yellow. Expansive peach nectar, pear and honey aromas show very good clarity and turn livelier with air. Juicy, penetrating and seamless on the palate, offering an array of concentrated orchard and pit fruit flavors that are sharpened and given spine by a smoky mineral nuance and a touch of bitter orange pith. A pungent floral note appears on a fragrant, impressively persistent finish that leaves behind vibrant Meyer lemon and mineral notes. - Josh Raynolds"

jeb dunnuck logo 250"The base white from this reference point estate, the 2017 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Le Miocene Blanc is mostly Clairette blended with 40% Roussanne. Brought up all in stainless steel, this medium to full-bodied beauty boasts a rocking bouquet of stone fruits, clean citrus, and beautiful minerality. It’s perfectly balanced, has a great texture, and a big finish. It’s great today but will keep for over a decade if you’re so inclined."

wa92"A ripe, honeyed blend of 60% Clairette and 40% Roussanne, the 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc Le Miocene offers scents of tangerines and pineapples on the nose. It's medium to full-bodied on the palate, with those tropical, citrusy notes framed by crisp acids and buttressed by ample concentration. Fine stuff for drinking over the next couple of years, possibly longer. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. - Joe Czerwinski"

vinous logo"Pale brilliant straw. High-pitched aromas of lemon zest, Anjou pear, anise and white flowers, backed by a hint of smoky minerality. Densely packed but lithe in character, displaying very good clarity to the mineral-drenched orchard fruit, citrus zest and honeysuckle flavors. The floral note carries emphatically through the finish, which lingers with impressive, mineral-driven persistence. - Josh Raynolds"

"This full-bodied but fresh-fruited white owes its tart grapefruit and green apple flavors to a hefty dose (60%) of Clairette along with 40% Roussanne. Unoaked and briskly concentrated, it's a juicy, thirst quenching wine that finishes on a pert mineral tone. Best enjoyed young. - ANNA LEE C. IIJIMA"

2018 Domaine Grand Veneur Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc Le Miocene - 91 PTS - JD

jeb dunnuck logo 250"The base cuvée, the 2018 Châteauneuf Du Pape Le Miocene Blanc has incredibly classic notes of pear, pineapple, and white flowers, with just a hint of salty minerality. It's beautifully textured, medium-bodied, and refreshing on the palate. It's about a classic as they come and readers looking for an introduction into the whites of the region should grab a few bottles. It will keep for 2-3 years.."

jeb dunnuck logo 250"Based on a 60/40 split of Clairette and Roussanne brought up all in tank, the 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape Le Miocène Blanc offers a pretty, already complex nose of mulled citrus and pear fruits, leafy herbs, and honeyed toast. With notable richness, medium body, and bright acidity, as well as a clean, dry finish, it’s classic white from this great region to enjoy over the coming 3-5 years."
