2013 Domaine de la Mordoree Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee de la Reine des Bois - 94 pts - WA

wa94"One of the wines of the vintage is easily the 2013 Châteauneuf du Pape Le Reine des Bois. Mostly Grenache (there’s a fair chunk of Mourvedre and Syrah) that’s raised in a combination of stainless steel and barrels, it offers tons of graphite and crushed rock to go with background blackberry, leather and pepper. Ripe, unctuous and fabulously concentrated, this beautiful Chateauneuf can be drunk today with incredible pleasure, or cellared for a decade. - Jeb Dunnuck"

2013 Mordoree Chateauneuf-du-Pape Rouge La Reine des Bois - 92 - VINOUS

vinous logo 250"Vivid ruby. Intense blackberry and cherry liqueur aromas are complicated by suggestions of lavender, spicecake, garrigue and vanilla. Juicy and focused on the palate, offering flavors of sweet, spice-tinged red fruits and candied flowers. Concentrated and chewy in texture, showing excellent purity and lift to the dark-fruit- and mineral-driven finish. - Josh Raynolds"

2014 Mordoree Chateauneuf-du-Pape Rouge La Reine des Bois - 91-93 - VINOUS

vinous logo 250"Full ruby. Powerful, smoke-accented boysenberry and black raspberry on the perfumed nose. Broad and fleshy on the palate, offering bitter cherry, dark berry and licorice flavors that gain spiciness and energy with aeration. Shows very good thrust and breadth on the dark-fruit-dominated finish, which is firmed by broad, mounting tannins. In a substantial style but not lacking for vivacity. - Josh Raynolds"

2015 Domaine de la Mordoree Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee de la Reine des Bois - 93 pts - JD

jeb dunnuck logo 250"The 2015 Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Reine des Bois from Domaine de La Mordorée is solid in the vintage. A blend of 75% Grenache, 14% Mourvèdre and the rest Syrah, Vaccarèse and Counoise, aged in 25% new barrels, it offers the classic darker styled fruits of this cuvée, with lots of blackberry, currants, toasted spice, graphite, and licorice all emerging from the glass. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, with a supple, elegant style, it's already drinking beautifully, yet should evolve gracefully. This is one of the more elegant, mid-weight examples of this cuvée produced yet it will still keep for 10-12 years."

2015 Domaine de la Mordoree Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee de la Reine des Bois - 93 pts - WA

wa93"Richly concentrated and velvety in texture, the 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape La Reine des Bois is a full-bodied blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre, 5% Syrah and 5% split between Vaccarese and Counoise. While it's not the greatest vintage of this wine, it's still terrific, marrying plummy, black cherry fruit with a dusting of baking spices and Provençal herbs, finishing long and plush. - Joe Czerwinski"

wine enthusiast 94 pts"This is a voluptuous, slightly warming wine with bold alcohol and luscious flavors of mulberry and black cherry. Delicate notes of violet, lavender and garrigue lend a perfumed, airy lift. It's a rich but elegant wine with a firm, tannic finish that should meld from 2020 and improve through 2030. - Anna Lee C. 2016 Domaine de la Mordoree Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee de la Reine des Bois - 100 pts - JD

jeb dunnuck logo 250"The inky colored 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Reine des Bois is a match for the otherworldly 2001 and is a magical wine that couldn’t be any better. Based on 75% Grenache and the balance Mourvèdre, Syrah, Vaccarèse, and Counoise, raised in tank and neutral barrels, its inky black color is followed by an awesome perfume of blackberries, smoked earth/charcoal, licorice, graphite, and garrigue. Deep, full-bodied, with a huge mid-palate, a seamless texture, and serious tannins, it has the purity as well as depth that makes this vintage so compelling. This modern-day legend needs 3-4 years of cellaring and is capable of lasting for 15-20 years.

This estate has unquestionably landed on its feet after the passing of Christophe Delorme in 2015, and you’ll have to go back to 2001 to find wines at the same level as these 2016s."
